John and Amy Herdman joined our ministry in 2020. He accepted Christ as a young person under the ministry of his pastor. John surrendered to preach during his first year of college, and he attended Bible College in Ohio. Mrs. Herdman grew up in West Virginia. Pastor Herdman met his wife, Amy, while they were seniors in high school. John and Amy were married in 1993. God has blessed their family with one son and two daughters.
Pastor and Amy are delighted to be part of the family at Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church. They are excited to serve the members as well as Gray and surrounding areas.
Dan & Carmen Rogers have been married since 1990, and the Lord has blessed them with five children. Anthony, Aaron, and Abigail are married. Ariana and Alyssa are still at home.
Dan grew up on the mission field of Veracruz, Mexico, and was saved at the age of eleven. Carmen grew up in Iowa and was saved at the age of four. Dan and Carmen met in Bible college, and God has blessed them to serve together in church ministry.
The Rogers have served in church ministry in Veracruz, Mexico, and in local churches in the United States. In the church where Carmen grew up in Iowa, Dan served as a layman and later as a music director, Sunday school teacher, bus worker, youth pastor, and singer in special music groups. He also started a Spanish ministry at the church. For five years prior to receiving the call to return to Mexico, Dan and his family served on staff at Somerville Baptist Church in Somerville, Alabama, as music director and children’s pastor. Carmen’s soprano voice and skills in playing the piano have been an asset to the church choir and music ministry. She has also been involved with various ministry outreach.
For the last five years, Dan and Carmen have been serving as missionaries in Merida, Yucatan.
Daniel Wakefield was born and raised in Southwest Michigan. In the summer of 1999, his mother shared the plan of salvation with him, and he accepted Christ as his Savior. As a teenager, Daniel responded to the Lord’s call to preach the gospel while at a youth retreat. He enrolled in West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster, California in the fall of 2010. Following graduation, he spent three months at Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church as part of an internship.
Rebekah grew up in a pastor’s home in Pennsylvania and accepted Christ as her Savior as a young girl. Knowing the Lord wanted her in His service, she also attended West Coast Baptist College where she met Daniel. She graduated in May 2015 with a degree in secondary education.
Daniel and Rebekah were married and joined the staff of BRBC during the summer of 2015. God has blessed their family with two boys. Daniel serves as youth pastor and children’s ministry director. The Wakefields love to serve God together and desire to reach people with the gospel and to assist them in building their lives upon the Word of God.
Dr. Eugene (Gene) Lasley was the pastor of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church, Gray, Tennessee, for 46 years. Pastor Lasley retired in 2009 and is now Pastor Emeritus of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church and is engaged in pulpit supply, revivals and conferences as the Lord opens the door.
He attended Southern Mississippi University, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and graduated from Bob Jones University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1954 and a Master of Christian Education in 1956. Bob Jones University conferred on him the Doctor of Humanities degree in May of 1976. He was named to the Junior College All-American Football Team in 1951 while attending the Jones County Junior College located in Ellisville, Mississippi, and started as an offensive guard on the Southern Mississippi team that played in the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas, on January 1, 1953.
Preacher Lasley is married to Ellen, and they have three children, Laurie, Calvin, and Torrey.
