Our Pastor

Pastor John Herdman was born in West Virginia in a Baptist preacher’s home. John accepted Christ as a young person under the ministry of his pastor. John surrendered to preach during his first year of college, and he attended Bible College in Ohio. He followed the Lord’s leading and enrolled in Marietta Bible College in Ohio. In 1996, he graduated and joined Ripley Baptist Temple in West Virginia as assistant pastor. He since served as assistant pastor at Franklin Road Baptist Church (Murfreesboro, TN) and recently as senior pastor for six years at Grace Baptist Church (Delaware, OH).

In 2020, John became the thirty-second pastor of the oldest church in the state of Tennessee.

Pastor Herdman is extremely grateful for this ministry and desires to lead BRBC with the same biblical integrity exemplified by our former pastors. Pastor Herdman is passionate about the Word of God and desires to see people in the Tri-Cities and around the world accept Jesus Christ as their Savior.

Pastor Herdman met his wife, Amy, while they were seniors in high school. Mrs. Herdman grew up in West Virginia. Her brother is Mike Norris, Senior Pastor at Franklin Road Baptist Church. John and Amy were married in 1993. God has blessed their family with one son and two daughters.

Pastor and Amy are delighted to be part of the family at Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church. They are excited to serve the members as well as Gray and surrounding areas.
